Managing B2C and B2B E-commerce operations from One Place

Challenge

Prosports is a sportswear retailer. Their core sales program revolves around hockey and skating sports. Recently, they have extended their offering to other sports and textile programs. Their customer base comprises sports clubs, professionals, and sports enthusiasts from various countries with varying levels of expertise. Although sales have been conducted through an online store for quite some time, the B2B order management has been processed manually. However, the increasing sales volume urged management to consider revamping the e-commerce system to manage B2C and B2B sales centrally, optimize business processes, and simplify the editor onboarding process.

Solution

Creatim leveraged the Sylius framework to implement B2C and B2B shops on the same platform. Both stores draw product descriptions from the same catalog, which are amended with stock data pricing and tailored to the end user’s profile. The system is designed to facilitate swift seasonal product changes. Since many orders come from partners all over Europe and beyond, the stores are adjusted for international business operations.

The main advantages of the B2C store are:

  • A powerful promotion engine and blog that attracts traffic from search engines (SEO and SEM).
  • Category-level filtering allows users to quickly narrow the product selection to their preferences.
  • The tax rate is automatically calculated based on the buyer's country.
  • In the Prosports home market, the online store allows personal pickup at Prosports branch stores.

In the B2B store, orders are made through long-term contracts, where conditions are negotiated with each client individually. Orders are now automatically recorded in the ERP system, and customers especially benefit from stock notifications and pre-order options.

Result

The new e-commerce platform automates business processes and promotes self-service activities, relieving the Prosports sales team. Freed from routine tasks, they can now devote more time to business expansion.
